Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) uses fibre-optics to allow the combination of multiple signals onto a single strand. Each signal is assigned to a different wavelength of light and does not affect each other. This technology enables cost efficient upgrade of capacity in optical networks. Coarse WDM (CWDM) and Dense WDM(DWDM) are different wavelength patterns of WDM systems. With the emergence of lower cost WDM equipment now available outside of the carrier space, we are able to use your existing fibre optic infrastructure to attain cost savings and efficiency without the expense of running additional fibre cabling.
